Ancient Wisdom for 2024

(From Celia)

In 2002 the Elders of the Hopi Nation in Oraibi, Arizona sent out a message that I read and kept. It felt like important wisdom then and it feels even more important this week.

The Hopi Elders Speak –
You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour.
And there are things to be considered:

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.

It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.
See who is there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally.
Least of all, ourselves.
For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.

 Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

I do not remember where this message came from more than 20 years ago – or who gave it to me. But now, reading it again after this week’s election, I especially cherish the advice to speak Truth, create community, and be good to each other.

    Thank you for this wisdom.

    Something from a wise teacher:

‘Try this out in your meditation. Notice what you don’t like, don’t want, hate, or are frightened of. When you resist these things, you’re actually empowering them, giving them tremendous influence and power over your conscious experience. But when you welcome them and open up to the flow of life in both its good and bad aspects, what happens? I know from my experience that when I’m accepting and welcoming of conditioned experience, things drop away from me. They come in and they go away. We’re actually opening the door, letting in all the fear, anxiety, worry, resentment, anger, and grief. This doesn’t mean that we have to approve of or like what’s happening.

“I can either get caught up in the pain that comes to me, attach to it, and be overwhelmed, or I can embrace it with acceptance and understanding, not add more suffering to the existing pain, the unfair experiences, the criticisms or the misery that I face.” ~ AJAHN SUMEDHO

Heart so heavy. Thank you for this. I am thinking of moving out of the country. It feels too negative, against every fiber of who I am what I believe in, to live out my life at 70, surrounded by those that can align with such a negative leadership. I am giving myself a year to sit on this, look at my options and decide. Still in shock a rapist racist con , a dangerous demagogue, can garner such support especially from those that feigned they are doing God’s work. Insanity reigns.
