This is a time when how old you are has become a big question.
A few days ago my friend Katy, a storyteller and author who was born the same year I was, sent this email:
Here is a conversation I had with a young person recently. He is perhaps five years old.
Child – You’re old.
Me – Yes, I am. And you’re a young person.
Child – (Indignant) No, I’m not!!
Me – What are you?
Child – I’m a human being.
Glad we got that all cleared up.
Yes, cleared up. How wonderful it would be if in this time of turmoil we could just remember that, first of all, we are all humans.
